Infinitely Simple
Thomas Troward — judge, philosopher, and one of the most rigorous thinkers in the New Thought tradition — identified something in his Edinburgh and Dore Lectures that most of his contemporaries and successors failed to preserve with equal precision. A century later, the framework built in Infinitely Simple arrives at many of the same conclusions from a completely different direction — and can now specify the mechanism Troward could only describe philosophically.
Troward drew a precise distinction between the individual as creator and the individual as distributor. "We cannot impress upon ourselves too deeply," he wrote, "that the relation of the individual to the Divine Spirit is that of a distributor, and not that of the original creator." This is not a theological nicety. It is a structural description of the creature's actual causal relationship with the ground from which it derives — and getting it wrong, Troward recognized, produces inversion rather than alignment.
Troward identified the thought-feeling union as the mechanism of creative causation: "Thought creates form, but it is feeling that gives vitality to thought. Thought without feeling may be constructive, but it can never be creative." The framework can now specify what this means structurally: the feeling is not generated by the creature — it is received through sufficient structural correspondence with the ground. When the creature's thought aligns with the originating thought, the feeling that the Originating Spirit is begins to localize through the creature.
Troward worked from philosophical analysis without access to the neuroscience, quantum biology, and first-principles logical tools now available. The framework builds on his foundational insights and provides what he could not: the specific biological mechanism of the mind-body connection, the precise account of how structural correspondence grows through progressive reorganization, and the logical derivation that eliminates alternatives rather than merely asserting conclusions.
Troward sits at the most rigorous end of the New Thought lineage — the point where the tradition comes closest to what the framework derives from first principles. He was working in the same direction. The framework is where that direction leads when followed with every tool now available.
The lineage from Troward through the framework is documented in full.
